Earlier this week, the Charlotte Hornets revealed its newest uniform–an updated version of the team’s “Statement” uniform. With that being said, there’s no better time to rank the franchise’s past-and-present threads.

The Hornets’ new threads feature a large display of the abbreviation “CHA” across the front of the chest. This feature drew criticism from many Charlotteans who know Charlotte to be “CLT,” however, “CHA” is the NBA’s designated abbreviation for Charlotte, therefore that’s what went on the uniforms. A second, albeit minor, update to the jersey is the stripe under the armpit. The Statement uniform previously featured four stripes on the side of the jersey, whereas now it has two teal stripes that come to a point midway down the side.

These uniforms replace the old Statement unis that featured “CHARLOTTE” on the chest plate, and will debut on opening night on October 23 when the Hornets host the Chicago Bulls. While the Hornets will be in rebuild mode this season, at least they’ll do it in style.

With the arrival of the new uniforms, there’s no better time to rank Charlotte’s past and present uniforms. The Hornets have long stood out for the use of purple and teal, and are currently the only team in the NBA to feature the Jordan brand logo instead of the Nike check. From color combos to pinstripes to branding, the Hornets have always had one of the more unique uniforms in the association.
