1. N.C. State has a rich history of Quarterbacks

Let’s face it, N.C. State has faced this situation before. Questions surrounding the quarterback position have been a reoccurring theme under Doeren and each time he has pulled out an NFL caliber starting quarterback.

After a disastrous first season, he was able to produce Jacoby Brissett and then followed up Brissett with Finley. Both were transfers, but for the last five years the quarterback position has been nailed down at N.C. State.

This gives me optimism that a starting-caliber quarterback will emerge from the convoluted mess that is the current depth chart.

There are three quarterbacks vying for the starting spot, redshirt sophomores Bailey Hockman and Matt McKay and redshirt freshman Devin Leary.

Leary was a four-star prospect out of NJ that had 15 scholarship offers. Hockman was the No. 1 ranked JUCO quarterback after transferring from Florida State. McKay has been in this system for two years and offers a massive 6’4″ frame.

Each of these quarterbacks has the potential to be a competent starter in the ACC and I trust that Doeren will pick the right one.
