Dallas Mavericks

This is another non-playoff team that has expressed interest in Walker, and while it seems unlikely Walker would go to a team in this position, Dallas is a potential sleeper team next season. The Mavericks have a knack of handing out bad contracts, giving max contracts to Wesley Matthews and Harrison Barnes in back-to-back off-seasons, but they were able to shed both of those contracts last season and have some money to throw around again. This starts with star forward Kristaps Porzingis, who is set to have a five-year, $158 million max contract offer on deck despite not actually playing for the Mavericks yet.

Add in Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic and veteran guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and that’s not a bad supporting cast right there, certainly better than the one Walker currently has in Charlotte. While Dallas wasn’t really in the playoff hunt last year, the additions of Walker and Porzingis would likely make them one. If Walker ends up meeting with the team and they end up making this pitch to him, Dallas could emerge as a dark horse to sign him.
