Justin Williams has had a storied career. One doesn’t garner the nickname “Mr. Game 7” without leaving an indelible mark on the game. He has achieved one of the goals he set out when he returned to Carolina, he helped lead the team back to playoffs and make them a playoff contender again. Now what?

Williams is a UFA this summer. It’s possible he leaves, but more likely if he plays next year, it will be as a Hurricane. The more interesting decision he has is whether he plays next season. At 37 he showed signs of decline last season, particularly the toll that deep playoff run outwardly took out of him. Does he hang up his skates or come back for another go round?
