Returning veterans don’t miss a beat

The Carolina Panthers got two veteran players back for this game, Greg Olsen and Thomas Davis, and on their returns made an impact right away.

Tight end Greg Olsen had missed the past four games after suffering a broken foot in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. This was the same foot he broke last year but was able to return in about half the time he did last year. He finished the game with four receptions on seven targets and 48 receiving yards.

The return of Olsen should help as the offense continues to try and learn Norv Turner’s offense.

Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball the Panthers got linebacker Thomas Davis back for the first time this year. The veteran linebacker missed the first four games after violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.

He ended up finishing second on the Panthers in total tackles with six and two passes defended.

Davis has been one of the leaders of this group for the better part of a decade and his return should only be a positive for this group moving forward.
