Panthers need to find a run game

This game made it very clear that the Carolina Panthers need to find a way to get Christian McCaffrey, or C.J. Anderson, going on the ground. Entering Week 6, the Panthers actually were first in the NFL in rushing yards with 154 yards per game.

The hope was that after the Bengals game, the coaching staff had figured out a way to get McCaffrey going on the ground after he had a career high 184 rushing yards. However, against the Redskins he finished with only 20 rushing yards, after gaining only 58 against the Giants.

The reason the Panthers have been able to remain at the top of the league in rushing is because of Cam Newton. The team’s quarterback has now lead the Panthers in rushing in three of the first five games.

McCaffrey is an explosive runner and one that showed in college he can carry the rushing load for a team. The Panthers must find a way to get him more than eight carries in a game.
