Blue Devils officially put 2017 behind them

Fans of the Duke football team remember 2017 all too well, due in large part because 2018 has gone exactly the same way leading up to this game. Both years, the Blue Devils won their first four games before suffering their first loss of the season in their fifth game.

Both years, the Blue Devils suffered the loss at home against an ACC opponent, Miami last year and Virginia Tech this year. The concern was that last year the loss to the Hurricanes started a six game losing streak and if it wasn’t for two wins to finish the season, they would have missed out on a bowl game.

This year though the Blue Devils have ensured there won’t be a six game losing streak after a four game win streak. The experience of last year is still fresh in the mind of many of these players and coaches and they appear much more focused to make sure they didn’t have a repeat.
