The Carolina Panthers ruled three players out for Week 6 however are expected to get tight end Greg Olsen back this weekend.

The Carolina Panthers announced their injury report for Week 6 and fans should be happy to know that tight end Greg Olsen was listed as questionable. The former Pro Bowl tight end has missed the past three games due to a broken foot in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.

This will certainly be a nice boost for a passing offense that currently ranks 25th in passing yards per game at only 211 per game. The team hasn’t had really any production from this position as rookie Ian Thomas replaced Olsen in the starting lineup and only has 10 receptions and 42 receiving yards this season.

While it will be good to see Olsen, there certainly has to be a high concern for possibly re-injuring that foot. This was the same foot Olsen broke last year and the recovery time was cut nearly in half from nine games last year to five weeks this year. The tight end has also already said that he expects he will need surgery at the end of the year.

The Carolina Panthers do have three players who have already been ruled out for Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Damiere Byrd will miss this week due to an ankle injury. However, with the return of Curtis Samuel, Byrd was not expected to see much playing time.

On the defensive side of the ball, the team will be without linebackers Jared Norris and Andre Smith. Similarly to Byrd, neither player was expected to see much playing time this week even if they were healthy.
