Must stay the course with Hartman

It is hard to advocate for a quarterback who just went 7 of 20 for 74 passing yards but head coach Dave Clawson must stick with Sam Hartman for the remainder of the season.

The harsh truth is that this Wake Forest football team is not good enough to compete in the ACC. They are now 0-3 against power conference teams and have been blown out by two Top 10 teams at home by a combined score of 119-30.

However, the problem doesn’t lie with the quarterback but rather the defense. This is something that likely will not be able to turn around this year and the focus for the coaching staff needs to be getting experience for this group heading into 2019.

It starts with the quarterback and this year will be invaluable for Sam Hartman moving forward. The true freshman was put in a tough spot as the Demon Deacons really didn’t have any other options than Hartman and has shown at times that he can play at this level.

While the Demon Deacons struggle, and likely will the remainder of the year, the worst thing at this time would be to make a switch at quarterback and replace Sam Hartman.
