NC State Wolfpack moves up to 20 in AP Top 25 after win over BC
The North Carolina State Wolfpack have moved up to 20th in this week’s Associated Press Top 25.
The NC State Wolfpack remained undefeated after their 28-23 victory over the Boston College Eagles this past weekend and that win helped them move up in this week’s Top 25 rankings by the Associated Press. The Wolfpack were able to move three spots, from 23rd to 20th this week.
The Wolfpack are now one of three teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) that remain in the Top 25. The Clemson Tigers are ranked fourth while the Miami Hurricanes are 16th. The Virginia Tech Hokies, who were ranked 24th dropped from this week’s rankings after their 45-23 loss to Notre Dame.
It was good to see North Carolina State move up in this week’s rankings even though their performance against Boston College wasn’t the best. The team committed the most turnovers in a game this season with four. They also had a 28-3 lead late in the third that quickly disappeared as Boston College scored the final 20 points of the game.
The good news though is that the Wolfpack did come away with the win and were able to move the ball almost at will with over 500 yards of total offense, including a season high 225 rushing yards.
The rushing attack between Ricky Person Jr. and Reggie Gallaspy II was arguably the most positive thing to come from this game. The Wolfpack have had to rely pretty heavily on Ryan Finley through the first four games but if they are able to find a more balanced attack with these two backs this offense will be tough to stop.
The NC State Wolfpack are idle this week and the bye week couldn’t come at a better time. The Wolfpack will be traveling for the biggest game on their schedule, a road game with the Clemson Tigers.
