Carlos ‘Boogie’ Basham Jr.

One of the the things that the Syracuse Orange did very well was get pressure on the Clemson Tigers’ quarterbacks. They finished the game with four sacks and the focus for the Demon Deacons will need to find a way to replicate that success.

Enter defensive end Boogie Basham Jr.

The talented pass rusher was expected to fill the void left by the departure of Duke Ejiofor. He has done pretty well to this point with two sacks, all of which has come over the past four games.

The defense as a whole though has been a weakness for this Wake Forest football team. They have struggled to stop the explosive plays of the opposing offense however they showed some improvement this past week against Rice. This was the first game without Jay Swavel, who was fired after the Notre Dame game.

If Basham, along with defensive tackles Zeek Rodney and Willie Yarbary, can put pressure on Trevor Lawrence and limit his time in the pocket, it should help take away some of these explosive plays.

The Wake Forest football team has a great opportunity ahead of them on Saturday against Clemson. It will be up to these players though to help pull off the upset.
