Offense already showing improvement

The biggest change Hornets fans should notice this upcoming season is a different offense. Head coach James Borrego will be looking to replicate an offense that he is very familiar with from his time with the San Antonio Spurs. As Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer writes the focus for this offense is “on quick, decisive ball movement and 3-point shots.

The Hornets have already begun to show this as they have increased their assist total from 17 in their preseason opener to 26 in their second game against the Celtics to most recently 29 in their game against the Heat.

In their last game, the Hornets had four players with at least four assists with Tony Parker and Malik Monk leading the team with seven.

There is no question that the Hornets should drastically improve from their 21.6 assists per game last year, which ranked 24th in the NBA.
