Can they cut down on penalties?

Similar to the run defense, this is something that has carried over from previous years as this Tar Heels team has once again struggled with penalties. The UNC football team currently has the second most penalty yards per game in the ACC at 68.5 yards per game. Last season, the Tar Heels were last in the ACC at 72.7 yards per game.

This is something that head coach Larry Fedora should be focusing on week in and week out because the margin of error for this Tar Heels team is small. The questions at quarterback, along with the defense, doesn’t give them a lot of wiggle room and penalties could be the deciding factor between a win and a loss.

The amount of penalties they are committing on a weekly basis is just beating themselves and putting them in a tough situation. This should be top priority for this UNC football team over the next two weeks leading up to their game against Virginia Tech.
