The Charlotte Hornets moved to 2-1 this preseason with a 122-113 victory over the Miami Heat.

After the Charlotte Hornets split back to back games with the Boston Celtics, they returned to Spectrum Center for a 122-113 victory over Southeast rival, Miami Heat.

The Hornets got off to a slow start falling behind by nine points by a score of 34-25 but chipped away in the second quarter and were down only five going into halftime. It was about halfway through the third quarter that the Hornets took the lead and never looked back.

The Hornets were led by Kemba Walker who had a team high 18 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. However, it was Wily Hernangomez who had the best performance of the night for this Hornets team.

The center came off the bench for this Hornets team and had 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in only 17 minutes of action. This is the type of performance fans have come to expect from Hernangomez who watched him in the Summer League.

He looked to be making significant strides over the summer and that trend has continued this preseason. In three preseason games, he is averaging 13 points and seven rebounds per game in just over 17 minutes of action.

In addition to Hernangomez, rookie Miles Bridges also continued his strong preseason with another great game. The former Michigan State forward had 14 points and six rebounds against the Heat and is now averaging 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game with plenty of highlight reel plays, on both ends of the court.

These are two players that head coach James Borrego will have a tough time keeping off the court if they continue to play the way they have this preseason.
