Win the turnover battle

This is one thing that the Demon Deacons have not been able to do on a consistent basis. Entering this season with a true freshman, like with Sam Hartman, the expectation was that he would make some mistakes and as a team would need to work through those turnovers.

The hope would be that this defense would be able to force turnovers of their own to balance it out. The Demon Deacons though have lost the turnover battle in three of their five games, tying with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and winning on Saturday against Rice.

When a team is trying to steal an upset over a Top 5 team like the Clemson Tigers, the margin of error is very small. They can’t afford to have too many turnovers and still expect to win the game. This will be a game the coaching staff will be looking to Hartman to really protect the ball and not put the defense in a bad position.
