Missed opportunities for offense early

The return of Daniel Jones meant that this offense would get more vertical in the passing game and that is exactly what happened. However, they weren’t able to capitalize on them.

In the first quarter, Jones took two deep shots to Chris Taylor however wasn’t able to connect on either. The second pass attempt bounced off Taylor’s hands and would have likely set the Blue Devils up inside the five yard line.

There didn’t seem to be much rust for Jones in this game and it was more the Hokies defense really locking down this offense in the first half. The chances were there though and if they had connected on either pass attempt, it could have had a significant impact on the outcome.
