Run game comes alive against Virginia

The first three games of the season, Ryan Finley and this passing attack carried this offense. However, against Virginia it was a much more balanced attack as Ricky Person Jr. had his best game of the season.

The run game has actually improved each game this season after only having 83 rushing yards against James Madison, they have now broken the 100-yard mark each of the past three games. On Saturday against Virginia, the Wolfpack finished with 174 rushing yards.

The team was led by Person Jr. who brought some explosion to the position that has been lacking. The freshman, along with Gallaspy, each had 14 carries however Person Jr. finished with double the rushing yards. This was due in part to a 38-yard run in the fourth quarter that helped secure the win.

This season, Gallaspy was expected to be the team’s featured back and follow in the footsteps of previous 1,000-yard rushers like Nyheim Hines and Matt Dayes. However, if Person keeps playing the way he did against Virginia, he could be the player that ends up eclipsing 1,000 yards.
