The Duke football team will have their starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, for tonight’s matchup against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The Duke football team got good news Saturday ahead of their marquee matchup against the Virginia Tech Hokies. After suffering a broken clavicle only three weeks ago, the Blue Devils are expected to have Daniel Jones under center against the Hokies, according to Steve Wiseman of the News & Observer.

While Quentin Harris has played well in Jones’ absence, the return of the starting quarterback will be a big boost for this offense. Prior to the injury, Jones had completed over 70% of his passes for 389 passing yards with four passing touchdowns and no interceptions in less than two full games. He also had 40 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

One of the areas Jones really improved this year, and will be a big boost for the entire offense, was his ability to throw the ball down the field. In each game, Jones had a completion over 50 yards and while that is something that shouldn’t be expected every week, the threat of the deep ball should force the defenses to play back from the line of scrimmage. This could help open the running game with less players in the box.

The timing couldn’t be better for this Duke football team as they will be facing their toughest competition of the season. The Blue Devils are 4-0 on the season and moved into the Top 25 for the first time this year.

Meanwhile, they will be facing a Hokies team that is coming off an embarrassing loss to Old Dominion, that dropped them out of the Top 25. This will be a team that will be focused on rebounding and the Blue Devils should expect their best performance.

The return of Daniel Jones should be a big boost for the Blue Devils as they hope to move to 5-0 for the first time since 1994.
