When you have two quarterbacks, you actually have none

This saying couldn’t be truer for the UNC football team at this point. The Tar Heels were expected to have a quarterback competition prior to the season between Chazz Surratt and Nathan Elliott. However, Surratt’s three-game suspension ended any type of position battle and Elliott was named the starter.

This was the first game Surratt was eligible to return and Elliott’s performance over the first three games would assume he had a short leash. That was the case against the Hurricane but unfortunately Surratt wasn’t much better than Elliott.

Larry Fedora spent most of the game alternating between the two quarterbacks hoping to find a spark with one of them. It just never happened and Elliott finished the game 16 of 25 for 104 yards while Surratt went 4 of 10 for 10 yards with three interceptions. However, Surratt did have 69 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

The performance of the two quarterbacks has to be a concern and until they are able to get consistent production, this UNC football team will have trouble putting up wins.
