These are the key players to watch on the Duke football team against Virginia Tech this weekend.

This has the makings of a statement game for this Duke football team. This was the first time they were ranked in the Top 25, currently 22nd, after starting the year 4-0. They have had to overcome a number of issues, specifically injuries to Daniel Jones and Mark Gilbert.

However, that has not slowed this team down and a win over Virginia Tech is the type of game the Blue Devils need to legitimize the start to this season. The Hokies will be entering this game fired up after a disastrous loss to Old Dominion, that dropped them from 13th to outside of the Top 25.

Virginia Tech is in a similar situation as the Duke football team and this game could come down to which backup quarterback plays better. Quentin Harris has played well in place of Daniel Jones, who could possibly be back for this game only three weeks after breaking his clavicle.

Meanwhile, the Hokies lost their starting quarterback, Josh Jackson, to a broken leg suffered against Old Dominion. The Hokies replaced him with Ryan Willis, who went 9 of 18 for 131 yards and one touchdown.

If the Blue Devils want to remain in the Top 25, these are the key players to watch against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
