The NC State football team remained undefeated with a 37-20 victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd. These are the top takeaways from their first road game of the season.

The NC State football team did exactly what they needed to in their first road trip as they jumped out to an early lead and kept the pressure on the Thundering Herd to a 37-20 victory.

This was the Wolfpack’s toughest test on paper to this point in the season after last week’s game against West Virginia was canceled due to Hurricane Florence. They responded in a big way with over 500 total yards of offense and held the ball for over 34 minutes.

While Ryan Finley accounted for 377 of those yards through the air, it wasn’t his best performance to date. He only completed 58 percent of his passes and didn’t look as accurate as previous games. This forced some receivers to chase after high passes and left them open to big hits.

The Wolfpack defense also had a strong performance against Marshall, with three turnovers. One of those turnovers helped seal a victory for NC State when Jarius Morehead intercepted an overthrown ball and returned it 57 yards for a touchdown. They also had a second interception in the fourth quarter by Chris Ingram.

These are the top takeaways from NC State’s victory over Marshall.
