Tar Heels’ offense finds number two receiver

There is no question that Anthony Ratliff-Williams is an excellent receiver and the number one passing option for UNC football. However, this offense needs a number two receiver to keep opposing defenses honest and not allow them to continually roll coverage towards Ratliff-Williams.

Against the Panthers, the Tar Heels got that with Dazz Newsome. The sophomore led the team in receiving with six receptions for 110 yards, including a 47-yard reception.

While it would be unrealistic to expect Newsome to put up similar numbers on a weekly basis if he can at least remain a threat in this offense, it should really be able to open up this passing game. This will not allow defenses to dedicate as much attention to Ratliff-Williams and help Nathan Elliott move the ball.
