Wake Forest Football: Key players to watch against Notre Dame
Sam Hartman
All eyes have been on the Wake Forest starting quarterback Sam Hartman as he has faced different challenges in each start. Whether it was his first collegiate start (at Tulane), first home start (vs. Towson), or first ACC game (vs. Boston College), he has stepped up every week.
He is currently averaging 278 passing yards, 64 rushing yards with seven total touchdowns.
This week Hartman will be going up against his first ranked opponent against the 8th ranked Fighting Irish. There is no question that it will be his toughest test and he will need to have his best game if the Demon Deacons want an upset.
The biggest focus for Hartman will need to be to protect the football. He has had six turnovers through the first three games (five interceptions, one fumble) and with the margin of error so small, the team can’t afford these types of mistakes.
There is certainly plenty of pressure on the freshman and it will be worth watching if he can rise to the occasion.
