The Wake Forest football team will be facing their toughest challenge to date with a home contest against Notre Dame. These are the key players to watch on Saturday when the Demon Deacons take the field.

The Wake Forest football team doesn’t have much time to lament over their first loss of the season, a 41-34 defeat to Boston College. The Demon Deacons must prepare for their toughest opponent to date when they face 8th ranked Notre Dame.

These two teams faced each other last year and the final score, 48-37, shows a much closer game than it actually was in the Demon Deacons’ loss. The Fighting Irish had built a 34-10 lead early in the third quarter before the Demon Deacons were able to put points and close the gap to 11.

However, that was a different team with a high powered offense led by John Wolford. The experience at the quarterback position certainly helped and the Demon Deacons don’t have that this year with true freshman Sam Hartman under center.

The good news for this team is that the lack of experience hasn’t been too much of an issue for this offense as they are averaging 36 points per game. It is the Demon Deacons’ defense that is the concern and this game will likely be another shootout.
