Offense

Quarterback

Cam Newton finished the game completing 32 of 45 passes for 335 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He also led the team in rushing for the second straight game with 42 yards. The only blemish from this game would have to be the interception however, it is hard to blame Newton for the interception as it bounced off the hands of C.J. Anderson.

Grade: A-

Running Back

The team’s top two running backs (Christian McCaffrey and C.J. Anderson) combined for only 11 carries for 68 rushing yards. However, McCaffrey once again made his presence known in the passing game with 14 receptions on 15 targets for 102 receiving yards and led the Panthers in all three categories. While it would be nice to see more production on the ground, it is hard to argue with McCaffrey’s impact in the passing game.

Grade: B+

Wide Receiver/Tight Ends

The big play was on full display for this offense as the Panthers had four receivers (Devin Funchess, Jarius Wright, DJ Moore and Torrey Smith) make catches over 20 yards. Funchess led this group with seven receptions for 77 yards. This grade would be higher if Moore was able to make the catch, although it is hard to hold it against him as it would have been a tough catch.

Grade: B+

Offensive Line

The juggling continues along the offensive line with Trai Turner ruled out for this game, along with Daryl Williams who was placed on injured reserve this week. The team promoted Tyler Larsen to starting right guard with Taylor Moton returning to right tackle. This gave Chris Clark, who was signed as a free agent this week, the chance to start at left tackle. This group did a good job keeping the Falcons away from Newton as he was sacked only twice and hurried five times.
