Sam Hartman should remain the starter

For Sam Hartman, the loss couldn’t have come at a worse time as Kendall Hinton will be eligible to return from his suspension this coming week. However, this loss shouldn’t have an impact on Hartman as he has played well enough to remain the starter for Wake Forest football.

Against the Eagles, the true freshman had a shaky start to the game with an interception in the first two quarters of the game. However, he was able to settle down a bit in the second half and finished with 214 passing yards, with an additional 65 rushing, two touchdowns and the aforementioned two interceptions.

Hartman has continued to look more comfortable in the pocket and has made some impressive throws, in particular a fourth down completion to Sage Surratt and a touchdown pass to Jack Freudenthal at the end of the game.

Dave Clawson will have a decision to make this week but he should come out earlier and name Hartman the starter to give him a chance to continue to develop.
