Duke Football: Key players to watch against Baylor
Quentin Harris
There is no question that all eyes will be on quarterback Quentin Harris when the Blue Devils take the field Saturday. He will have big shoes to fill stepping in for senior Daniel Jones, who was playing well this season.
In limited time against Northwestern after Jones went down with his injury, Harris went 2 for 2 for 12 yards with five carries for 14 yards, including a 25 yard run on 3rd down. The last two years, Harris’ playing time is limited and he is a combined 7 of 13 for 73 yards with one passing touchdown. He also had 80 rushing yards and two rushing touchdown over that span.
While Harris is not nearly as polished as a passer as Jones is, he is an athletic quarterback and could have more success running the ball. Daniel Jones had over 300 carries the past two years and there is no reason that the team won’t try to call a few more runs for Harris.
The play of Harris could be the biggest deciding factor if the Blue Devils are able to come away with a win.
