Cade Carney

On the offensive side of the ball, the focus has been on true freshman Sam Hartman and this passing attack. There is no reason he shouldn’t be as Hartman has had an exceptional start to the season.

However, the weather could certainly have an impact here and really hinder the passing attack. This means the Demon Deacons will really need to establish the ground game and this could mean a heavy workload for Cade Carney.

In the first two games this season, Carney has had 35 carries for 184 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including the game winner against Tulane in overtime. He has begun to distance himself from Matt Colburn, who was expected to be the starter at the beginning of the year.

This is likely not to be a pretty game and will be one that the Wake Forest football team will need to grind out. It should be primarily a ground attack with Carney, and even Sam Hartman, being the primary force to move the ball down the field.
