Wake Forest Football: Top takeaways from win over Towson
Secondary struggles again
For the second straight week, the secondary for the Wake Forest football team struggles to stop the opposing quarterback. Against Tulane, it really came down to two plays that they were beaten on as Jonathan Banks connected on a 74-yard and 52-yard touchdown passes.
This past weekend against Towson, Tom Flacco, the younger brother to Joe Flacco, completed 35 of 51 passes for 345 yards and three touchdowns.
This is a trend that has carried over from last year, when the Demon Deacons finished last in the ACC in passing yards allowed. They finished the year giving up an average of 271 yards per game and this year through two games are at 313 yards per game.
This Wake Forest football team doesn’t have the same high powered offense they did last year and will struggle to continue to win games if they end up in shootouts on a weekly basis. Hopefully this is a group that can show steps towards improvement against Boston College.
