Sam Hartman should remain the starter all season

The Wake Forest football team had a big question mark at quarterback with John Wolford graduating but they may have found their new quarterback for the foreseeable future. True freshman Sam Hartman got the chance to start after beating out Jamie Newman in a QB battle that took place due to Kendall Hinton’s suspension for the first three games of the season.

Hartman through two games has 620 passing yards, 128 rushing yards with five total touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing).

However, he has also made plenty of rookie mistakes and has struggled to protect the ball. He has had four turnovers (3 interceptions, 1 fumble lost) in these two games. These type of mistakes are typically expected when starting an inexperienced quarterback and it fortunately hasn’t been too costly for the Demon Deacons.

The game against this weekend will be a great test for the young quarterback as he will face his first ACC opponent, Boston College. The focus for Hartman should be to protect the ball and get the ball to his playmakers.
