The Wake Forest football team ran away from Towson thanks in part to Greg Dortch’s performance.

The Wake Forest football team has one of the most dynamic players in the ACC with wide receiver Greg Dortch. He showed that against Towson as he returned two punts for touchdowns and was named as ACC Player of the Week as a Specialist.

Dortch finished the game with over 300 all-purpose yards as he had 94 receiving yards, 85 kickoff return yards and 131 punt return yards. He also had three total touchdowns with the two punt returns as well as one receiving touchdown.

"SPECIALIST – Greg Dortch, Wake Forest, So., KR, Richmond, Va.Dortch posted the most all-purpose yards of any player in the nation in Saturday’s 51-20 win over Towson • He had seven receptions for 94 yards, three kickoff returns for 85 yards (long of 38), and three punt returns for 131 yards (long of 70) • Dortch ran back two punts for touchdowns on returns of 70 and 60 yards • He became the first Wake Forest player with two punt returns for touchdowns in a game since 1927."

Dortch appears to have picked up right where he left off last year. As a freshman, Dortch led the Demon Deacons with 53 receptions, 722 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, including two punt returns for touchdowns. He had a stretch in three of his final four games with at least eight receptions and over 100 yards.

However, a fluke abdominal injury against Louisville, a game where he already had four touchdown receptions, ended his season early. He was forced to miss the final five games.

Dortch is a key piece of this offense for Wake Forest football and this wide receiver group is one of the best in the ACC. Through two games, Dortch has 19 receptions, 243 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. He is joined by Alex Bachman and standout freshman Sage Surratt that is helping true freshman Sam Hartman have a great start to the year.

This is not even mentioning Scotty Washington, who has missed the start of the year due to injury, and was the team’s top receiving option at the end of last year after Greg Dortch’s injury.
