Panthers passing attack struggles

While the Panthers offense did enough to win the game, there was plenty left to be desired from the passing attack. Cam Newton finished the game 17 of 26 for 161 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Similarly to last year, the Panthers’ wide receivers didn’t have much impact but rather Christian McCaffrey was Newton’s primary weapon. He finished the game leading the team with six receptions for 45 yards. Meanwhile, the team’s three wide receivers (Devin Funchess, Jarius Wright and Torrey Smith) combined for only seven receptions for 79 yards.

Certainly a new offense will take time for everyone to be on the same page so it isn’t as concerning as it might be. However, this is something that will need to improve and quickly with an Atlanta Falcons team up next.
