Mark Gilbert leaves game with injury

The Duke football team won the game but they could have suffered a big loss on this defense. In the second quarter, Mark Gilbert suffered a leg injury that kept him out for the rest of the game. He wasn’t able to really put any pressure on the leg which certainly raises concerns.

Gilbert had a breakout year last year in this defense as he finished with six interceptions, including two against Northwestern. He entered this year not only considered one of the best cornerbacks in the ACC, being named to the 2018 All-ACC Preseason team, but in the country.

If Gilbert is forced to miss time due to the injury, it will put pressure on the rest of the defense to step up their play. This would be a tough injury to overcome for this Duke football team.
