Cam Newton

While it is a bit obviously to say Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton is a key player because he is the quarterback of this offense and the best player the Panthers have. However, the former MVP is entering new territory this year and could determine where his career goes over the next few years.

This is the first time in Newton’s NFL career that he will not have Mike Shula on the sideline. Shula was the team’s quarterback coach before transitioning to offensive coordinator for the Panthers. The team decided to go in another direction this offseason and brought in veteran coach Norv Turner to run this offense.

One of the focuses for Turner this year is to help Newton become a more accurate quarterback and improve his completion percentage. In his seven year career, Newton has only completed over 60 percent of his passes twice, and hasn’t done in the past four season.

It will be worth watching how Newton does running this offense and if he looks to be comfortable against the Dallas Cowboys.
