Matt Colburn/Cade Carney

One of the areas the Wake Forest football team struggled in against Tulane was the run game as Hartman led the team with 64 yards followed by Cade Carney with 54 and Matt Colburn with 48. Both Carney and Colburn averaged under four yards per carry.

While this offense has an excellent wide receiver group with Greg Dortch, Alex Bachman, Sage Surratt and Scotty Washington when he returns, it is not a great formula for success to put the pressure on Hartman to move this offense.

The true freshman could benefit from a strong run game that will help keep defenses honest and open up some throwing lanes and give him easier, high percentage throws. This is a game that Colburn and Carney could have big games that will help build some confidence in the early part of the season.
