Dazz Newsome

There is no question that Anthony Ratliff-Williams is the star wide receiver in this offense however the Tar Heels desperately need another option at the position. Against Cal, the team’s three other wide receivers (Dazz Newsome, Roscoe Johnson and Rontavius Groves) combined for only four receptions for 30 yards.

The Tar Heels were hoping one of them would step up with Austin Proehl and Jordan Cunningham no longer on the team. Similarly to Antonio Williams and the run game, if this offense isn’t able to find a secondary weapon in the passing game, defenses are just going to key in on Ratliff-Williams and really disrupt this offense.

While Newsome may not be a key player, this position is and the team will be desperate to have one of the other wide receivers step up.
