UNC Football: Key players to watch against East Carolina
Nathan Elliott
The start of the 2018 season couldn’t have gone any worse for Nathan Elliott than it did against Cal. The junior went 15 of 35 for 137 passing yards with one touchdown and four interceptions however three of those came in the first half.
In the second he did appear to settle down and protect the ball a little more but did have the one interception. Those four interceptions came one short of matching last year’s total, five, which he threw in five games.
Unfortunately for Larry Fedora with Chazz Surratt suspended for the first four games of the season, he doesn’t really have any other options at quarterback. However, this could end up being a blessing for Elliott. This could give him a chance to work through the growing pains and help his development at the position.
It will be important for Elliott to build off last week and show improvement against the Pirates. The focus this week should be to get the ball out of his hands quickly and to his playmakers like Anthony Ratliff-Williams and running back Jordon Brown.
