Defensive Line

There is no question that the strength of this defense last year was their defensive line. This group was so good that all four starters were drafted in the NFL, led by Bradley Chubb who went fifth overall.

The good news for this defense though was their replacements saw time last year rotating in so they weren’t entering this year inexperienced.

However, against JMU they struggled to contain mobile quarterback Ben DiNucci and as previously mentioned the Panthers have a mobile quarterback as well in Dan Ellington. In his first game this year he finished with 77 yards rushing against Kennesaw State.

The defensive line is going to be crucial next week against West Virginia as they have one of the best quarterbacks in college football, Will Grier. They will need to get pressure on him if they want to be successful so this game will be important to make sure they are firing on all cylinders entering the game after Georgia State.
