Taylor Moton will start 16 games at left tackle

What has been almost a yearly tradition, the Carolina Panthers once again will enter the season with a different starting left tackle. However, this year the team may have found their left tackle of the future and one that should, barring injuries, start all 16 games.

Second-year player Taylor Moton has bounced around this summer as he started out competing for the starting left guard position. However, an injury early to Daryl Williams forced him to shift to right tackle, where he did play well in the first two preseason games.

A knee injury to Matt Kalil prior to the New England Patriots game, forced Moton to once again change positions and slide to the left tackle position. However, once again he played very well.

Moton will be entering this season as the team’s starting left tackle and should stay there for at least the first eight games with Kalil placed on injured reserve. However, once Kalil is eligible to return, I don’t believe he will have a starting job waiting for him.

The play of Moton this preseason was impressive and he should remain the starter for all 16 games at left tackle.
