The Carolina Panthers set their 53-man roster for the 2018 season and these were the biggest surprises.

It is not an easy task for the Carolina Panthers and the rest of the NFL as they are required to cut their rosters almost in half from 90 down to 53. The coaching staff has spent the past six weeks evaluating their roster in training camp and preseason games to find the best group of players to enter the season with.

While teams have a pretty good idea of what their 53-man roster will look like, there is always a few surprises on the final day as teams make their final decisions.

This was no different for the Panthers on Saturday afternoon.

The front office and coaching staff had some tough decisions to make and this was due in part to injuries that the team had to account for. They couldn’t have the depth they would like at some positions to account for these injuries.

These are the biggest surprises for the Carolina Panthers as they cut their roster down to 53 players.
