Antonio Williams
The best way to make sure Ross Bowers doesn’t have the impact he did in the first game is to keep him off the field. This is where running back Antonio Williams comes into play and if the Tar Heels establish the run game, they can control the time of possession battle.
This will be Williams first game with the Tar Heels after he transferred from Ohio State this past summer. The NCAA granted a waiver that allowed him to skip the year of ineligibility and play right away.
The junior saw limited time in the Buckeyes’ offense last year, finishing with 290 rushing yards on 57 attempts with three touchdowns. The 5’11” back is expected to have a much bigger role in this Tar Heel offense and should see his fair share of work against Cal.
