These are the key players to watch on the UNC football team as they start the 2018 season against Cal.

The UNC football team will be looking to put the 2017 season behind them. A year they went 3-9, including a 1-7 record in the ACC. This team will be starting this year the same way they did last year, with a match up against Cal.

The Tar Heels had a 24-21 lead heading into the fourth quarter however two touchdowns by Cal gave them a 35-24 lead. A late touchdown run by Chazz Surratt only closed the gap to five and the game ended with a final score of 35-30.

The hope is that this year will be different however if they want to win, the UNC football team will need to do it on the road as they travel to Cal. The focus entering this game will need to be on stopping Ross Bowers, who in his first collegiate start had his best game last year. He finished the game with season high 363 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.

These are the key players for the Tar Heels that will have the biggest impact on the outcome on the game against Cal.
