Garrett Gilbert (Stock Down)

There may be a leader in the race for the backup quarterback job and that is Taylor Heinicke. The 25-year old has now been the first quarterback in after Cam Newton in the past two games. He even came into the game against the Patriots earlier than expected when Newton was forced to leave after he was upended on a dive.

This does not bode well for Garrett Gilbert, who has spent the past two seasons with the Panthers. This is something you would think benefits Gilbert however Heinicke spent two seasons with Norv Turner in Minnesota and has more familiarity with this offense.

This final preseason game will likely be the deciding factor for who wins as Gilbert and Heinicke will play a majority of the game with starters likely sitting or playing a series.
