Joe-Giles Harris wins Bednarik Award

Another first for the Duke football team would be if Joe-Giles Harris were to win the Chuck Bednarik Award this upcoming season. The award is given out by the Maxwell Football Club and is awarded to the best FBS defensive player that season.

This will certainly be a challenge for Giles-Harris but he has shown the ability to make incredibly plays from the linebacker position. This past season, the Blue Devils’ linebacker finished with 125 total tackles, 16.0 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks and one interception.

Giles-Harris, along with Mark Gilbert, made the Bednarik Award watch list earlier this summer so he is clearly already on the radar for this award. It would not be surprising if Giles-Harris became the first ACC player to win this award since 2002.
