How will the rookie defensive backs hold up?

There is a real possibility that the Carolina Panthers could enter the season with not one, but two rookies in their secondary.

Cornerback Donte Jackson, a third round draft pick, looks to be the favorite to start opposite James Bradberry. This was a job that was likely going to Kevon Seymour, however Jackson’s play combined with Seymour’s struggle, presents a great opportunity for Jackson.

The other rookie that will likely get the start is third round draft pick Rashaan Gaulden. The safety out of Tennessee got the chance to see extended playing time against the Dolphins after Da’Norris Searcy suffered a concussion that knocked him out of the game.

Both players will now be tasked with going up against one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Tom Brady. This will be a great test for both of these young players and determine if they are ready to be starting in the NFL.
