These are the Old North Banter’s 2018 preseason awards for the Wake Forest Football team.

Football is right around the corner for the Wake Forest football team as their first game is less than two weeks away when they travel to Tulane on August 30th. The Demon Deacons has been a team on the rise improving their win total each of the past three seasons from only three wins in 2015 to eight wins last year. This is a trend they hope will continue in 2018.

The Demon Deacons had one of the best offenses in the ACC last year however the team did lose two significant pieces with quarterback John Wolford and tight end Cam Segrine graduating. This leaves a big hole in this offense, more so at quarterback than tight end.

The battle at quarterback has been the main topic of discussion, due in large part to Kendall Hinton’s suspension, which left Jamie Newman and Sam Hartman battling for the starting job. Whichever one wins the jobs will have plenty of playmakers around him to be successful as they have one of the deepest wide receiver groups in the conference.

The firepower from this offense helped mask some of the struggles of the defense of this Wake Forest football team last year. However, the hope is that this group will improve and the pressure will be on the defensive line to set the tone.

Without further ado, it is time to start handing out the Old North Banter’s 2018 preseason awards for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
