Stock Up: Ian Thomas

The depth at tight end certainly had to be a cause for concern entering training camp as the only players behind former Pro Bowler Greg Olsen was Chris Manhertz, who was recovering from offseason surgery, and fourth round pick Ian Thomas.

However, the performance of the rookie this preseason has to give the coaching staff some confidence in the position. Thomas only had one reception for two yards against the Bills, but showed his playmaking ability against the Dolphins, catching a pass from Cam Newton on a drag route and took it 28 yards for the score.

If Thomas is able to continue to show this big play ability, it will be just one more weapon at the disposal of Norv Turner and this offense.
