Stock Up: Corn Elder

Entering this training camp, Corn Elder looked to have an uphill battle to making the roster. The team brought in free agent Ross Cockrell and drafted Donte Jackson this offseason which made the cornerback position rather crowded.

Elder’s chances went up a little bit with Cockrell forced to miss the 2018 season due to a broken leg. However, Elder was still listed as the fourth cornerback on the depth chart listed on the Panthers’ website.

The fifth-round pick from last year helped his cause against the Dolphins though with one of the best interceptions fans will likely see all season. In the fourth quarter, Elder was able to deflect a pass with his left hand, then tipped it again with his right before securing the pick.

He finished the game with four total tackles in addition to the interception.

If Elder continues to play this well, he could be one of the final players to make the 53-man roster for the Panthers this season.
