Matt Kalil struggles to slow pass rush

The biggest takeaway from the Carolina Panthers game against the Miami Dolphins was the struggle of Matt Kalil. The starting left tackle gave up both sacks on Cam Newton as Robert Quinn made it look almost effortless to get to the quarterback.

Last offseason, former GM Dave Gettleman went out and spent big to hopefully address this position with the signing of Kalil. The former first round pick had a promising start to his career but injuries and inconsistent performance plagued him in his final seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Now in Carolina, Kalil has continued to struggle and at some point the coaching staff has to be concerned with his performance. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they don’t really have an option to replace Kalil so fans can expect to see the coaching staff give him help with tight ends and running backs chipping on his side.
