These are the top takeaways from the Carolina Panthers second preseason win of the season, a 27-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

The Carolina Panthers continue to play well this offseason and remain undefeated in preseason with a 27-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins, their second AFC East opponent this year.

Unlike last week, the Panthers got off to a fast start thanks to second-year running back Christian McCaffrey who broke off a 71-yard touchdown run. McCaffrey has looked great this summer and continues to show that in preseason games.

However, the offense stalled after that run and it wasn’t until late in the first half that the Panthers were able to put points on the board with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to rookie Ian Thomas. This touchdown was enough to give the Panthers a 13-9 lead heading into halftime.

The second half was almost entirely Carolina as they continued to dominate on the ground with two rushing touchdowns by Cameron Artis-Payne and Elijah Hood. The Panthers finished the game with 226 rushing yards with McCaffrey (92 rushing yards) and Kenjon Barner leading the way (72 rushing yards).

A touchdown in the final minute by the Dolphins closed the gap to one score but it was a little too late and the Panthers won 27-20.

These are the top takeaways for the Carolina Panthers from their performance in the second preseason game of the year.
